Posted: 6/1/05 at 6:03pmWhy is it that in the musical the characters/actors always pronounce the name "Raoul" as "Ra-owl" kinda way instead of the correct pronounciation "Ra-ool"?

rawl is british. rah-ool is the normal way.
and the french way, and its a french name.

Posted: 6/1/05 at 6:07pmI always thought 'Rah-ool' was more of the Italian/Spanish way to say it. But obviously, seeing as it is the London cast, it's probably the British pronunciation or it may be the French pronunciation, but I've never heard a true French person say it.

i speak french fluently.
its rah-ool. of course, you have to do the weird french "r"
