Well, Rath, while I agree with your thoughts on the first act, I have to disagree about the second. I don't beleive it did any of that.
And I'm glad you liked the score, I just found it unmemorable and unremarkable.
Foster and McGovern were great, but the material, as you said in your review, was beneath them.
I'm glad you liked it though.
It seems as if you had a fun time.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

I'm...SHYYYYYYY!!! And, the deal was, YOU get me the date. This has to be done properly.
Oh and by the way, people, that pic that bway11 posted, is NOT an airbrushed pic of a beautiful yet aging older woman. She actually looks JUST LIKE THAT (only in color). Oh, my heart...

Posted: 1/20/05 at 11:42pmRath, I want to know what you thought! (aside from your assessment of McGovern, whom I considered to be a stand-out in a troubled production). Please let us know! I'm sorry, I'm working on the date.

Elphie, I promise I'll post a coherent review in this very thread tomorrow. Right now, I'm too much in love to think.
And Ellie, I haven't seen Brenda in a while - have you? Oh that's right - she's on another continent. And Bernadette? Married. And I've never actually cried when she sang. So shuttie.

Thanks Rath.
Press night is on opening night, right? So that means official reviews will start appearing on Sunday evening?

Wonderful review.
In all seriousness, I'm excited to read what you have to say.

Actually, press night was Wednesday night but the reviews won't be posted until Sunday evening.

Since Maureen's role as the emotional anchor of the March family is virtually nonexistent and misguidedly reduced to two inadequate numbers, she might actually be looking for diversion. At any rate, she'll probably be out of a job soon.

To me, Wednesday seems like a strange day for press...I hate going to Wednesday performances.
I guess it makes sense that press would be going on different nights in the week before the opening. I was never clear on whether there was one particular performance that was reviewed by all.

Really? I wasn't aware. I was there Wednesday night and saw a lot of press including Brantley....I think.
EDIT: Strike that. It was definitely Brantley.

Posted: 1/21/05 at 12:07amKissel was there tonight. I also saw Dana Tyler (local news anchor), Liz McCann, Susan Schulman, and Alan Knee (the bookwriter). Oh and I got to meet Mr. Knee and most of the cast. Including Maureen. Yeah. Looked right into those huge gorgeous green eyes. Holy heart palpitations.

Posted: 1/21/05 at 12:09amWell it seems you certainly enjoyed yourself. I really liked the show a lot. I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening in the theatre. Also, I saw Stephen Schwartz there on Wednesday.

Posted: 1/21/05 at 12:45amSaw LW tonight. I found the show slow, boring, and incredibly bland. Too bad. I was expecting better. Though Suttun and McGovern def. carry the show on their shoulders. Sorry for the short, unsupported review. but im tired.
