I was walking to the subway last week past The Palace as Legally Blonde was getting out, and the group exiting were all very excited and buzzing about the experience. I then overheard a college (I think sorority) female group (not the kind of people you'd see on Broadway, even Legally Blonde) talking about the fact that they should definitely see at least one more show before they left, and I recommended they try "Spring Awakening" or "Avenue Q."
The weirdest thing? They seemed honestly interested in hearing about both the shows and were writing down the theaters and cross streets, and while we were talking another four college students (I think), three male, joined the conversation and talked about how they loved the show. They were dragged to LB by their girlfriends, and actually loved the show and wanted to surprise them with another show before they left NYC.
Say what you will about the quality of "Legally Blonde," but its getting an audience to experience Broadway who would never normally shell out money for Broadway (the MTV generation), and the fact that some of them are now trying out different shows is pretty darn cool. The show has really opened up Broadway for a whole new generation.

I love when that happens! But the most bizarre moments were defanetly from Jekyll & HYDE! Non-English speaking David Hasselhoff fans, hard-rock Sebastian Bach fans, just some really bizarre occurences!
Oh, what a great story! And think of what it'll be like when the show tours America. More exposure!

i have a few friends that were turned on to the Broadway scene after watching the MTV airing of Legally Blonde
My friend loves acting hates musicals. My other friend ditched me on Avenue Q (I b ought the tickets and she still didn't feel like) and I told my friend to go so I didn't have to go alone. He went and automatically wanted to go to another show. I showed him how to get second row seats for act 2. Not somthing I normally do, but when you're last row (especially in my friend's case when he forgot his glasses) of the Balcony (no mez), you need to be able to see the show to enjoy it.
