The article is up on Broadway.com. I think she'll be amazing! She has an awesome voice and I can totally picture her in that role. What do all of you guys think?

It seems fitting. Benanti replaced Luker in Sound of Music. Now it is reversed and Luker replaces Benenati.

Hopefully Antontio ain't gonna be goin where Mandy and the original dude from SHOWBOAT did and not sleep with her. How many marriages does she need to break up anyway?
Laura's career is on the way up and Luker's is over.
The broad just can't act. She bores me to tears.
Why not La Chanze as Claudia? THAT I would pay to hear.
Luker's such a nice lady (unlike Benanti) and just about equal with Benanti on the boring scale. Good for her. Updated On: 8/9/03 at 08:40 PM
I hope you're kidding. Laura Benanti is one of the nicest actresses I have ever meant. She was late for a record signing because she was giving me an autograph. She was all smiles, and when I didnt have a pen, she started asking people for one so that she could write "Jason- All The Best- Laura Benanti" in my notebook. And Laura Benanti is not boring! She's fantastic! Not to mention gorgeous, and an amazing Broadway performer who will have a long career on The Great White Way! And that is all I have to say about that!
Could not agree more, Laura's adorable and amazing. Of course, I run her website... but even still...

Laura nice? I don't think so. I recently talked to an ensemble cast member about Laura and let's just say she isn't thought to be humble or nice to her co-stars either. Rebecca Luker as Claudia should be interesting though. Rebecca's extremely nice! I got to meet her at the New Voices Concert. Updated On: 8/9/03 at 09:44 PM
Yeah, you guys haven't seen the true Laura, obviously.
i;ve heard mixed things about her. EXTREMLY nice and not so nice. but she seems nice, i dont know. i'd like to meet her before she leaves, i loved her in into the woods, so let me see and i'll tell you how she was to me.

yeah whats this about lucker breaking of marriages?? whos did she break up? and how did you find this out?
Was a message deleted? I know exactly whose marriage she broke up. Luker was in a well-publicized Broadway AFFAIR about 9 years ago.... With her leading man at the time.... Y'all can figure it out...

I saw Luker in PASSION last summer at Kennedy Center's Sondheim Festival... she has an amazing voice, and she is charming and beautiful. While she wasn't the highlight of the show, she left a great impression.
Watch for Rebecca Luker on PBS, for the Richard Rodger's Tributes on August 17th and 24th.
Well, I'm just going by my experience with her. And when I met her, she was amazing. There was actually a thread on the board talking about her being mean, so when I saw her, I was apprehensive to approach her and ask for an autograph, but she couldnt be any sweeter. She completely made my day.

I figured it out - was she between her own marriages to Greg Jbara and Danny Burstein? And who even KNEW about the previously alleged Mandy?????? Talk about inside information....... Updated On: 8/10/03 at 12:56 PM

I am sick of all of these is Laura nice or not nice posts. She was fabulous in Into the Woods, she's 23, and she does her job of signing autographs and being pleasant and gracious after a show. (my experience, more than one time.)
I didn't get the chance to meet Laura after Into the Woods, but I love her voice and will be sad to see her leave Nine.

Rebecca Luker is a wonderfully talented actress. She has regular work on broadway as well as Tony (and other) nominations. I'm a huge fan of Rebecca and I thoroughly enjoy all of her performances. She is incredible in NINE as was Ms. Benanti. I think my main concern and my sole purpose for writing is because of people's responses in the thread. Why even bring up whether or not Rebecca has "slept around" with co-stars or Laura doesn't "show up" or sign autographs? Who cares?! It's their life and they can do as they please. Also, only a few people have even answered the thread's topic which was REBECCA LUKER IS NINE'S NEW CLAUDIA. She is wonderful in NINE just like she was wonderful in PHANTOM, SECRET GARDEN, SHOWBOAT, SOUND OF MUSIC, MUSIC MAN, VAGINA MONOLOGUES, CAN'T LET GO, etc. Why on Earth would she have leading roles in all of these broadway/off broadway shows if she couldn't act? Stop being so mean people.

She certainly IS a fabulous actress. She brought me to tears with "Unusual Way" and needed no stylistic diversions to convey what she was feeling. Her voice was pure and simple and she had no need to show off vocally to compensate for her "lack of acting ability". She made my heart break for her.
I agree -- stop judging these women for what they do in their personal lives. It in no way affects your life nor does it make them any less competent performers.

I never quite liked Rebecca Lukers attitude. I think she is a very nice singer and decent actress but I will say that I don't believe her to be a very warm person. There were THREE timed I waited for her at a stage door...time # 1 - She did not come out #2 she came out, ignored the less than 7 fans standing there and # 3 came out, turned to us all standing there and said..sorry not tonight folks..all within a month. Now that did not bother me as much as what follows: I have read many interviews given by her and she becomes very defensive about her record as "the virginal" leading ladies. She seems very very blunt and kurt to me. There is just something about her attitude that comes off as "im a snob". Again, very nice and voice and acting but as a person I don't think she is very sincere or warm
Don't judge her based on how she acts outside of a stage door. When she exits the theatre, she is probably exhausted and may not feel up to dealing with people.

BwayLove675...put yourself in Rebecca's place. Fans at the stage door can become possessive and to be redundant, fanatical, at times. Once one experiences how rabid some fans can be, one may not be willing to put oneself through it nightly. So while it's not personal, maybe she had a few bad experiences. Who knows?
Bulldog.
When does John Stamous start if he hasn't already...
i talked to rebecca luker at the flea market and she was lovely to me. we actually had a decent conversation about nine and music man. i actually wanted her to sign my nine poster (i got most of the original cast but i just like her so why not?) and she told me to come by the theater and just to call out to her if she starts walking because usually she doesn't think people are there for her, i guess. but she told me to come by......??

They both are NOT very nice, let me tell you. I would have to say that I have some inside info of both of them..like some others...people who have been in shows with both of them and didn't exactly rave about their attitudes. The main info on Rebecca is that she is P for Prude and S for Snob and Laura....many more things to be said about Laura...lets just say that Laura's head grew WAY to big when she was cast as Maria at 19!
