I just checked my cable guide, and there are no listings for the Tony Red Carpet. I thought it would be on E! but their showing some Christina Aguilera thing. Anyone know what's up with this?

That's because the Tony's are not considered worthy of coverage
Unless you live in NYC, not Tony red carpet on TV. Check the TOny website. Last year they had one, I believe.

They did have one last year, but honestly, it wasn't worth watching - the closest to an actual theatre actor they showed was Megan Mullally, who noted that she was rooting for Piazza. The rest was a big Spamalot/Christina Applegate promo fest.
Well isn't that dandy.
Did I just say dandy?
Yeah, I did.
Too bad, I was looking foward to watching it. Last year I was in New York around the Tony's so I got to watch it.
why would E cover the Tonys?? Ryan Seacrest would have no idea what to do interviewing people with real talent. plus his IQ level is way too low to be allowed on the tonys red carpet
Well they would because they are the main entertainment channel. No matter how stupid and annoying Ryan Seacrest is. If it was going to be broadcast it would be on E.
There's no Red Carpet pre-show other than on NY1. The Tony's are always the lowest rated of all the award shows. I'm actually surprised that a network still carries them. Of course it's mid-June, a very slow time for the networks, but still... the ratings each year continue to drop. No one outside of NYC seems to care. And with this year's less than stellar nominees, I'm predicting an all-time low.
We theater fans are heavily, EXTREMELY in the minority. We're lucky enough to get the Tonys on TV. The networks would never put the Tony red carpet on mainstream TV- they'd lose $$$ because so few people would watch.

I remember watching the Red Carpet last year. What channel were they on? That stinks that they're not putting it on again. Though VonTussle girl is right, they didn't really show anyone noteworthy.

yeah, the tv guide channel was where i saw it last year
There's some sort of pre-show that's on at 5PM on CBS.
NY1 has one starting at 6:30
E!, as stated before, has nothing
and CBS, at least where I am, has nothing before the Tony's
And TV Guide Channel doesn't seem to have anything listed, but they're strange like that on my guide
Pleas someone YouTube the pre show! :)
Argh, I wish that tv actually cared about the Tony's. It's the only award show I watch now.

do you know how to get stuff on a dvd transferred to you tube?
I'm very happy for digital cable that way. Without it, I would not be able to get NY1 because I live three hours away, so digital cable is currently what i owe my life to

It was actually listed somewhere that E! would have Tony red carpet coverage.... this sparked a huge debate between myself and my aunt when she called to tell me and I told her she must be wrong -- only NY1 ever has red carpet coverage.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Check out the NY Times red carpet slide show.
