How does this recording compare to the Scottish opera version? It's the only one I've heard, and I'm pretty fond of it.

I have the Scottish one as well and I far prefer the Columbia recording. The orchestrations and performances have a bigger, more integrated, sound. Can't freaking wait!

Just now listening to some of the samples. Listen to disc 1 track 11, "What Will It Be For Me?" One of the most stunning arias. I also love disc 2 track 1 which has some real sweep and movement. Thrilling orchestrations. What little you can sample of "The Rain Quartet," track 6, is lush. Have I said I can't wait? Thanks for keeping me updated, Mildred!
