Rehearsal Videos

With musicals or plays that have ended, why don't the producers/writers of a musical release the rehearsal videos? This would be something great for those of us who can't get to see a musical, or play. Is it against their copyright stipulations, or am I mistaken in believing that plays still make rehearsal videos? I believe that some plays would sell really well by doing this. I wanted to get to see Bare: A Pop Opera, and it probably not going to open ever again, so it would be awesome for the fans who never got out to New York. Just a though....take it with a grain of salt.
