I'll agree with everyone else and say that Adam is definitely the weakest part of the entire cast, and the Justin is definitely the star. Nicolette Hart (Maureen) was HILARIOUS, and I personally like her voice a lot. And I must say I really hated all of the dialogue they added to the show, and the speaking in unison they did at the funeral.
Jessica0414 and I had a funny conversation with one of the bartenders at the theatre. Jessica was buying M&M's and I turned to her and said "We should get wasted, and be the drunk people in the audience." And the bartender says (while shaking her head) "Do It!"

lakezurich will be played by Paul Groves in the BWW musical
I just bought a signed playbill directly from Gwen Stewart. Life is good.
Also, Anthony and Adam were brilliant today. I don't know what Adam has been thinking all week, but he was definitely on this afternoon. Everyone else was good, too. This is what RENT was meant to be. I'm too charged up to say anything else of substance right now. I *must* go back before this tour leaves Chicago.
tourboi, I completely agree with your post on the previous page, you said what I was thinking exactly only much more directly, lol!
So I rushed this afternoon (guilty. what can I say, I'm an addict!), and can I rescind some of my previous comments about Adam? I don't know if it was just because he was up past his bedtime last night (ba-zing! haha j/k), but this afternoon he was SO much better than he was last night! He hit an extra-high note in the middle of "One Song Glory" that was fantastic, and just seemed so much more engaged in the performance than he was last night. I felt like he actually cared about what was happening on stage. It also doesn't hurt that he looked at me....heh. I love front row rush seats :)

How early do you recommend getting to the theatre for rush tickets? I know it starts 2 hours before, but how early have people been lining up (especially on a weekend)? I'm guessing they are still $25, yes? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks!
Tickets were $22.50. For the matinee today I got there at about 9:15, and there were already about 6 people in front of me, most of whom had been there since 5 am. On a weekday there will not be nearly as many people, but when we got out of the show this afternoon there were at LEAST 30 people lined up down the street trying to rush for tonight's performance.

Thanks for all the answers! Do you guys know if you get 1 or 2 tickets with a valid student ID? (sorry, last question, promise) I've been told by several sources not to miss it so I am considering rushing tomorrow.
Rushed today, got there at about 3:45 and was one of the last few to get tickets. There was a note on the sign that if all of the front two row rush sell out, they will sell STUDENT rush tickets after that for $30.
Saw it yesterday. I was sitting front row center in the dress circle and wished I was closer because I couldn't really see the actors' faces as much as I wanted to. Is the loge at that theater better than the dress circle? Just wondering.
Anyway, Anthony and Adam and pretty much everyone else (with one exception) were in fine voice. I thought the actress who played Maureen oversang and sounded strident and screechy at times (good acting, though). I did drop some money for Broadway Cares into Gwen Stewart's bucket and I made sure to compliment her on her incredible high notes, to which she replied "thank you, darlin'".
^ I hope you can go! I probably can't. I have chamber ensemble rehearsal tonight at 10 p.m. because our director couldn't find any other time that all of us could be there. This is mostly my fault, but still. I'm super jealous of anyone who goes---tell us if they are there!! :)

Anyone know if Cary Shields collects money for BCEFA? I'd love to get my Taboo cd signed by him and donate!
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
I don't know. But I do know that these folk are pretty busy when they're collecting (and their hands are pretty full), so they might not be keen to sign things or take pictures or whatnot.
So for Friday night's 8PM show, the tickets go on sale at 6...so would 4 PM be early enough considering it's still a weekday, or do you think that because it's Friday..and many people are on Spring Break, I should get there even earlier?
Thanks for all the reviews and info on tickets-so much help considering BIC hasn't really said anything about it...
It might be a good idea to get into the city earlier and just check out the line. If there's people, join them. If not, you can always chill in Borders for a while or grab a bite until you feel like it's time to get in line. At least, that's what I'd do.
^ agreed. It's a Friday, it's a holiday weekend, it's the last show in Chicago, so if it were me I would get there pretty early at least to see if anyone is there, and if not you can always create a diversion and return later haha better early and bored than late and SOL.

I rushed today 4/7/09...a tuesday...and I got there at about 1:30 and there were already people in line. Some people had been there since 9am. One kid had a sleeping bag. that was just for a tuesday show...I suggest you plan accordingly.
I hope you go see it because it was amazing. I was front row on the end, best seats ever!
Just saw the show tonight...rushed it. got there @ 11 AM and was like..the 12th person there, and so about ticket number 24 or so...it was so much fun! the people next to me were awesome. and the seats..were so worth 7 hours. 2 row center was absolutely exhilerating.
everyone got an entrance applause..there was a huge applause for the "No Cell Phones" sign going up. the music was BLASTING like at a rock concert...it was amazing, and the show really flew by.
Anthony was absolutely amazing- his voice was so clear and strong, and his Mark is as great as ever. Lexi had an incredible, crystal-clear voice, though some acting choices could've been stronger. Adam...I really tried to really like him, but he seemed REALLY bored onstage. Sitting so close, I watched his face a LOT...and it hardly changed through the course of the show...and the "NOOOO!" when they bring Mimi over at the end...WHAT?! Sorry, but that was pathetic. But his voice was good. As said before by everybody, Justin was GREAT, hilarious, and I love his voice. And Nicolette...her Maureen was hilarious, and her voice was okay. It was great on high notes, but it sounded like she REALLY strained with everything else.
Other notes from the night- Anthony auctioned off his Mark scarf (the one he wore during the show, and the one used on Broadway) for $1,200. I also got to see the auction-winner from last week perform. She was in "Seasons of Love B" and "Finale B," not sure what else. She got her own applause, and it looked like she had fun. There were also a couple of strange things... During "Another Day" when Adam first pushes Lexi away, he apparently pushed too hard because she sort of staggered backwards on the table, so much so that he started to laugh and reach out for her, which kinda ruined the moment, since he was just (supposed to be) really angry, but again, with his acting...it just was...strange to see. And then during that scene before "Goodbye, Love" b/t Mark and Roger, Adam apparently had a runny nose...and made a really nasty sound wiping it with his scarf, that was really loud into his mic.
At SD, Anthony, Nicolette, Jed Resnik(on as Steve/others), Jacques (Benny), and John Watson (caroler) came out and signed. all also took photos except for Anthony.
It was an ah-mazing, unforgettable night. Sorry for the long review. Thanks if you actually read through it :)
I love long reviews (especially because I write them too, lol)! Sounds like you got the same "I can't believe I'm still doing this" Adam that LZ and I got when we went last Friday. Too bad, but it sounds like everybody else was pretty on their game :) I love this show. I contemplated going back again some time this week but last Saturday was so perfect that I wouldn't want to ruin it. Plus, y'know, I'm pretty much out of money! lol.
