I agree with this. If (big IF, it is UPN) Taye's new show is a big hit, he'd be a somewhat big draw as Benny. Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye, for those who dont know)is the best choice for Angel, IMO. Queen Latifah wouldn't ruin Joanne, and Collins isn't that hard (Jesse L. Martin?). I really don't want a star as Mark, Roger or Mimi, I hope Mr. Columbus goes the Harry Potter route and cast unknowns (or Hollywood unknowns; I wouldn't mind Broadway vets, a la Matt Caplan, Cary/Jeremy or Krystal, as I've heard nothing but good things about all four of them)

I wouldnt mind a Rent concert with actual recording artists. But the movie doesnt need to be that lol

But yes, Christina singing Out Tonight would be something

You mean Taye as Benny, but I gotcha. Yes, I hope those three get cast

I want to see people I've never heard of, but if a name can do it, more power to them. From what I've seen, Columbus is really putting some work into this so I have to trust he'll do his best. Whether or not that's enough will be a matter of opinion. Whoever he casts, I will see with an open mind.

Okay I am very confused Anthony has said he is doing the Rent film, Adam has said he is doing the Rent film, Idina has said she is doing the Rent film. Rosario Dawson cast as Mimi, so where is all this convo coming from, haven't gotten confirmation from Taye, Jesse or Wilson yet. And from what I've heard Joanne has been cast also.

Matt I'm curious to what Major studio you are referring to.

Pab, no im not, Mimi has been cast Rosario was on a on a talk show this morning talking about it. Adam confirmed he was doing the film at his last show at Joe's Pub and on channel 11 here in NYC and Idina mentioned it a few weeks ago. And Anthony's latest posts indicate he is still doing the movie. And Dreamworks has nothing to do with this production. The fact that Mimi and Roger who Variety has said have officially signed shows its not accurate.
