There's a lot of negativity about the movie on this board... I really don't understand why.

I think we should appreciate the fact that the majority of this cast is ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST MEMBERS! Seriously, what movie musicals would chance this?? Also, Tracie and Rosario were not brought in for their names, when they could have casted any pop star. Even if you didn't enjoy the movie, this is wonderful.

I honestly really loved the movie. Anthony Rapp was wonderful as Mark--he owns this character.. All of his lines were SO funny- the audience was hysterical (the 3 times I saw it) because of his reaction to Maureen proposing to Joanne, what he says about his parents, etc. Jesse Martin and Wilson are gods in their roles. They were amazing. And Idina and Tracie's "Take me or leave me" was FIERCE. "Without you" and "I'll Cover You" were the most beautiful scenes i've ever seen in a musical movie.. and "La Vie Boheme", "Rent" and "Out Tonight" easily the most entertaining and energetic... I love the cinemetography. And yea, the cliff is kinda weird-but it is just showing Mark and Roger in two different worlds but still thinking about the same thing.

The show was sold out twice in a row here in Pittsburgh when my friends tried seeing it. It's bringing in so many new people, and everyone I've talked to except 2 of my friends has LOVED it. My one friend just didn't like "Over the moon" and thought it was bizarre-- but now they are all curious to go see the show live.

I just really think this movie is beautiful, funny, poignant, exciting, etc. I don't understand what you guys wanted it to be. It's cool that everyone has different opinions though, but the negativity is really bothering me... Even if it isn't a great work of art or whatever some people wanted it to be - it IS doing what Rent the musical did-- inspiring people, opening up people's eyes, etc. I cannot tell you how many of my friends are hooked now..

And I've never heard so much crying in a theater since Titanic.

I am shocked that it's #5, because it was soo packed each time I went, and I cannot tell you how many of my friends have seen it. Also, the audiences are very mixed when I went.

So, basically, in a nut shell... no day but today. This movie is BEAUTIFUL.

Great, because there AREN'T a million threads like this already. Most people aren't being negative about the movie, its the pandemic of threads that has flooded the board talking abou the movie over and over and over again. There is no need for everyone and their mother to start their own RENT movie thread. If you feel inclined to post about RENT and how much you loved it, please SEARCH for RENT on with the search feature or just add your comments to one of the other 10 threads on the main page. Thank you. ::gets off soapbox::

I love the movie, but this is totally unnecessary, and it's going to do nothing but piss people off.

I'm not getting angry; I'm just making you aware of the fact that sooner or later, someone's going to jump down your throat, telling you to, yes, use the search feature, or use one of the 34983409384938 already existing threads.

People wonder why there's this disdain toward Rentheads; people aren't going to like something that's constantly shoved in their faces. Going "I'm gonna do it anyway and be obnoxious!" isn't going to make something like that any better.

I don't not like what you say. Did I not post that I love the movie?

I wasn't snarky; don't be snarky with me. Perhaps if you looked more closely at what I posted, you'd see that the defensive tone was also unnecessary. Don't be so quick to judge, hm?

Ouch.

Well, do make it clear at whom you throw your stones.

"let me tell you how cool you are for getting all angry on a message board."
Who's the one getting angry here? I was simply stating that the abundance of threads like this are unnecessary and I may have done so a little too harshly.
Also, just as you have the right to create as many threads about the RENT movie as you want, I have the right to tell you that many people find it irritating and reply.
Emcee, I'm sorry that the nasty rebuttle was intercepted by you. Here's some ice for the bruises that the stones left when they hit you by mistake :).
