I'm not thinking of anyone imparticular. Who did you have in mind, LittleFish?
I'm not saying that it needs to be a Tony award. I just think it's a shame that replacements are not honored. Think of the shows playing on Broadway in a given year. How many of the best performances are by actors who did not originate the role? Quite a lot, don't you think? But what can we do? Maybe if we all got together we could convice Rob Diamond to fill this unfortunate gap by creating the Diamond Awards for Best Replacement Performances on Broadway. Indicate your support to this idea by a show of hands. And Little Fish, after seeing Miss Thompson twice last September, I think she'd be the one to beat in Best Replacement Actresss in a Musical! I think that a replacement award is an excellent idea. I'm sure some of the details could be refined to make it easier on voters. Maybe they could just have Best Male Replacement and Best Female Replacement. Instead of having to see every replacement maybe the comittee can only review performances that have recieved a lot of buzz? Or if the show solicits the comittee to review the replacement actor and shows have a limit of how many actors they can have reviewed?? I dunno exactly how it would work out, but I'm sure there is a way. It sounds like the idea would add a little more drama and excitement to the noms/awards.
