So far, all raves and a salute to Hugh as a first-class entertainer and a topnotch showman. It seems it is truly a variety show!
Can't wait to see it!

Richard Marx sang a duet with Hugh in the first two shows --
In this upload from Richard's blog --

check it out at around 2'40" for a few seconds of their duet of "Right Here Waiting for You", from the wings...
and chilling together in Hugh's dressing room.

It definitely needs editing and honing, but he is a charming and entertaining performer. It's very much a Vegas-style variety show with plenty of comedy, dancing and singing with 2 backup girl dancer/singers.
I'd often found his performances on award shows a bit forced at times, but by this evening's end, I was putty in his hands like the rest of the very, very, vocal audience (of predominantly women).
Glad to see the critics didn't take him to task for all the mishaps at Opening, as he handled them with charm and expertise.
