Elphaba, she probably hasn't worked with Bartlett Sher yet. As a replacement, she was mostly likely rehearsed by stage management and Barlett Sher will be in within the next week or two to see her and give notes, and then perhaps have a few work sessions.
As far as Barlett as a director, I hear from many that he isn't the best at working with actors.. he is better with overall production vision, and that the more seasoned actors who don't have issues with making their voices heard in rehearsal are the ones who come soff the best under him in a show.
Any pictures of Laura as Nellie?

Ms Osnes' statement about respect for the original performance makes perfect sense to me. The stage manager would make sure there wasn't too much of a change until the company and director had time to work with her. We have no idea whether either happened before her first performance.

Where is Nellie's mic in this show? Seeing as she couldn't wear one in her hair because she washes it onstage. I think I remember reading something around when the show opened, but I can't really remember.
And, does she have two wigs then? One to wash and one to change into post wash?
And, did Kellie have a wig that she changed into after after "Wash That Man?" or was the hair team that good that they dried, prepped and set her hair for the rest of the show during intermission and the twenty minutes she has before Honey Bun?
Laura looks lovely. Can't wait to see how she grows into the role in a few months.
Kelli wore a water resistant wireless mic, on her head. Assuming Laura does the same? Technicalities:
What kind of mics did you use on the actors?
We’re basically using DPAs for everybody, except on Kelli we used Countryman lavs because they’re super water resistant, and it made the “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” number easier because we just left the mics on her while she showered.
How did that scene work audio-wise?
She actually had to move the transmitters around, but the mics are on her head. She’s wearing a wig, and the microphones themselves are under her wig. We couldn’t fit the transmitters in the wig because it was too small, so we put the transmitters on her body, and she moved them into her bikini top for that scene.
