I love me my Jerry Mitchell -- he's the nicest guy in show business.
Riedel is a mean-spirited nasty-ass man, but his description of LaChanze's insane number of missed performances was precious.

People who know about Legally Blonde are likely the people who would have already tuned in to watch the show and they likely will do so with or without LB performing. Let's quit kidding ourselves and thinking that the future broadcast of the Tonys are riding on one show having a performance or not. The awards show is just a show with a very niche market and that's likely not going to change. I hope they continue to broadcast it, but the show is probably going to have to make a lot of concessions in the future if it wants to continue to be on network TV.

"Riedel made it his personal goal to close down a show a few years back and he did. I think it was a Weissler show (Suessical maybe?)."
Well, that's certainly specific. Who could question that?
Riedel doesn't have the power to close a show and he sure as hell can't put Jerry Mitchell out of work.
He is very good at provoking people. He enjoys it. Wouldn't suprise me to find out that he enjoyed getting punched. Any reaction is a good one for him even (maybe especially) a negative one.
