Think he might want to stay away from quoting Musto as far as "ITH" goes--- His comments in the "Village Voice" regarding "ITH" bordered on absurd.

Riedel is spot-on about ITH, and Musto is not afraid to say what many critics are actually thinking.
Although Lin-Manuel definitely has the edge in the rapping skills...
If you really want to see good theatre - Broadway is not the place to go - Grease proves that point.

So, all of the critics need to be stereotypical, and they all think that "ITH" should have been violent?

That's not what Musto is saying at all.
ITH is a happy, energetic, fluffy, easily accessible, no drama, telenovela like, old-fashioned musical. It is what it is. That's all he means. It's not a coincidence that it didn't win best book.

That is not at all what Musto implied in the "VV" article... and he repeated the same sentiment on "Theatre Talk"-
His exact words were - "where is the violence?"
As far as Book--- "Xanadu" should have won, but "PS" was thrown a bone.

Xanadu book is the most overrated thing on Broadway, and only succeeds amongst its target audience by the skill of the talented actors.
You cannot take everything Musto says literally. Everything he says is said with a sarcastic tone to it.

wow, great insight... because Broadway is only as good as the worst show playing at any one time, right? Thanks for that contribution.
In any season since Broadway (or the West End or anywhere) existed, there have been fantastic shows side by side with dreck. And the dreck will often outsell the quality show. Still, if you want to see quality, I can think of several places you can spend your hard earned dollars on Broadway this season.
