riedel didn't destroy taboo. that was a group effort on the part of the writers, director, producer and the marketing staff. don't give him more power than he has. he merely reports the inside dirt.
you wanna have a problem with someone, have a problem with the people that dish to him. they're the ones that afford him what little power he has. unfortunately, they were dishing him facts on taboo and from stories that i hear, they're dishing him facts on good vibrations.

Posted: 1/20/05 at 7:58amHow much money did 42nd Street lose? I thought it was supposed to recoup before it closed. I remember it was doing quite well the last 6 weeks or so. As for Riedel, I'm sure he'll get what's coming to him. Karma payed him a little visit last year and it'll be back to bite him in the ass. I have a problem with him AND the people that dish to him. I'm just not sure why anyone would respect him. He's like a cockroach in your breakfast cereal...unashamed to be revolting and manages to ruin the entire day.

Posted: 1/20/05 at 4:35pmPlum; his attacks to Peters were vicious. Frankly I don't know how he got away with them. But I would hardly blame him for that production flopping. Alot of people just didn't like it ( me included). And I don't think most tourists read the NY post to decide what show to go see.

Posted: 1/20/05 at 4:40pmI never said he's the reason the revival flopped- I don't give him that much credit. But that doesn't justify what he did (and does) in any way. He claims to care about theater, but he just likes to stir up trouble. If he can do that using accurate facts, he will, but he's not above twisting things around to his mean-spirited ends. Posted: 1/20/05 at 4:43pmTrue. Very true. I do however doubt that he doesn't double check his facts. Oh how many people would love to sue his ass. Anyway; I agreee with gherbert. for better or wworse I really enjoy reading his colunm. And for me... he has become a voice I do trust ( as vicious as he is). I have seen both taboo and Gypsy an have agreed with him on both.

"Before the start of each show, Carrafa appears onstage to announce that "Good Vibrations" is still "a work in progress."
To which the only proper response is: "Then why are you charging full prices?""
That isn't exactly accurate information. Ticket prices were $10 cheaper during previews (through 1/27) and there are discount codes out there. I'm just sayin'.
