Anyone think Bright Star gets a boost off tonight?
I think it depends on the song(s) Bright Star performs. I'm assuming Bright Star will involve Steve Martin playing the banjo which could pique interest. I personally think that including Whoa Mama along with a number that shows of Carmen's beautiful voice would be very appealing. Whoa Mama is so catchy and fun and I think it really showcases the bluegrass genre. Sun is Gonna Shine has been performed a lot and they need something fresher. A poster mentioned If You Knew My Story on another board and I just don't think that tells you enough about the show.
The seams of Riedel's seemingly growing ineffectiveness are showing badly here. His best source is Judy Jacksina? She hasn't been involved in Broadway in years. And his "old hand" quote (probably also Jacksina) is so clueless it's painful: how long has it been since a producer had to "duck out" to check the box office-any producer who cares has a live feed in his pocket? Probably since Judy Jacksina's last show opened.

NJ_BroadwayGirl, I'm with you thinking Steve Martin has to be involved. I truly hope so, he's their best and likely last chance to sell some tickets... Also curious about the song choice. I tend to agree regarding Whoa Mama. Like you mentioned with the poster on the other board, I heard a while back it was If You Knew My Story but that could have very well changed.
Hogans, your points are right on the money.

Poor riedel. He used to have so much power and so much influence when he wasn't relegated to one opinion piece once a week in the nypost.
