I remember that some of you expressed a desire to see Chicago reproduced on film as it was "intended" on stage -- i.e. as a very minimalist production with all black costumes.

If it's true, then Rob Marshall's Chicago was almost a by-the-book adaptation of the 1975 version. The revival merely boosted interest in the film's production. Amazing, to me at least.
