Posted: 12/3/10 at 12:27pmI just got cast in Rocky Horror (it looks like I'm a Transylvanian), and since it's supposed to spoof all the B sci-fi/horror movies, I was wondering if people could recommend some to watch. Thanks!

Perhaps even a basic knowledge of Rocky Horror lyrics would help you out with your own question...

Flash Gordon
The Invisible Man
King Kong
It Came From Outer Space
Doctor X
Forbidden Planet
Tarantula
The Day of the Triffids

I think you should watch the Ed Wood movies, but not for Rocky Horror, really. It's a different subset of the genre. I'm with x and joe. Stick to the canon. Well, maybe the original Frankenstein, too, for the parallel Rocky's birth/lab scene.
Enjoy! It's a fun show to work on.
eta: GMTA, but Julie beat me to it. Here's a link.

In the Broadway version on RH, the Transylvanians were known as "Phantoms", gertie. Are you doing that version, because man, did those guys gave fun. Amongst the people who played phantoms: Diedre Goodwin, Matthew Morrison, Kevin Cahoon, and the dear late James Stoval.
If you have any questions about the Bway version, pm me -but lemme get you started on the 1931 Frankenstein:
Rocky, errr, Frankenstein's monster comes to life.

ghostlight2 I guess I should've said "phantoms". I don't know all the details because we don't start rehearsals until January, but I can't wait!!!!!
And yes I am praying that our Rocky looks like Matthew Morrison, or is Matthew Morrison
