I've been asked to put together a list of roles I'd like play, I was told to makes the list realistic. I am a decent actor I am not ,however, able to pull off an extremely intense layered character(which I am working on). For starters I'm a baritone, I can get up to an comforable A.
well, what roles would YOU like to play? I could tell you the roles I want to do, but that won't help you.
comedy, drama, dancey, singey, ingenue, character?
help me, help you!!!
You're a good singer that can't really act?
And you want to be in theatre?
ingenue and comedy
It's not that I can't act, it's that an extremely complicated character would be difficult for me to pull off.
Well, the ensemble is a safe bet.
It would be difficult of me to say "Here's a completely, empty, uncomplicated character!"
Soapy, I KNOW I've told you this before. You're alot better at acting than you think you are. And since I know you I think roles you should look into are.
Bill (Showboat)
The Pardoner (Canterbury Tales: Musical)
Emile (South Pacific)
But, Munk is 100% correct. No role is empty, and uncomplicated. Find a method stick with it. You'll be going to college soon, which means you have atleast those four years to improve this.
He's not even in college yet and you're suggesting Emille DeBeque? Come now....it will be another 30 years before he can hope to tackle that one....
I was talking about in college/community productions. If I was talking about professionally all of the roles I listed would be out of the question fresh out of college.
I will look into those.

Danny from Grease.
DannyBoy, sorry I misunderstood.
Soapguy: IF you're not even in college yet, I'm sure you will have the chance to brush up on your acting skills. Even so, some people who want to act aren't meant to act.
I spent two years studying musical theatre in college before I just stopped enjoying it. Performing became a hassle, and I much preferred sitting behind a piano running a rehearsal.
I don't wish to discourage you, but before you choose to go to college for acting, be smart about it. I wasted about $80,000 on 4 semesters studying musical theatre - and only 8 of those credits transferred.
double post!
I'm majoring In Vocal Perfromance. Which is more up my alley minoring in theater depends on how I feel about my ability in the area. I understood your point before you explained it, I'd like to think I've read enough of your post to tell when your trying to make someone cry and when your being helpful.
I'll also look into Danny. Thanks, Gothampc.
