Well, in terms of new interpretations, I've heard it all.

The Public's production of Romeo and Juliet's main set piece, the area where most of the action will take place, is a swimming pool.

Lauren Ambrose calls it the "West Nile pool."

Ahem, I've been to Verona several times. A river runs through it, but there are no lakes or ponds that I can recall.

A pool with no speedos? Disappointing.
In all seriousness though, I can't wait to hear the reviews tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing this production (if I can get tickets, no way I'm sleeping over at the park for ROMEO & JULIET).

Lincoln Center used a pool and a river in the Helen Hunt "Twelfth Night". Except that was indoors.
