Room for a politico in Broadway?#0

I am a poli sci major and have much experience in the political realm... but, recently, I have decided that I want to start off in nyc and theatre before I inevitably get sucked down to DC (which I love, dont get me wrong) to work on the Hill. I was wondering if anyone knew of jobs or positions within theatrical companies that would entail political-like skills? I do love to perform, but because I am not a theatre major, I dont know how "in demand" I would be on the Broadway stage, but I would like to work with musicals in some capacity.
Does anyone know what kind of areas look for my skills? I am still 2 years from graduation but it would be nice to have something to work toward and possibly find internships related to.
Thanks a bunch for any help!

I would check with the production offices to see about internships. And believe me, the production end of the biz definitely could utilize some political savy.

Do Dame, Margo, Marc, and the other reigning sages of the board have any suggestions?

Theatre Communications Group publishes Artsearch, a newsletter which contains job postings for TCG members. A subscription is not cheap, but check a library (the NY Public Library has a subscription) or possibly the theatre dept at whatever school you are studying.

Often the positions are at LORT theatres outside of NY. Everyone seems to work in the Subscription and the Development departments at one point or another.

Word to the wise: don't we have enough politicos in this world? Combine your two fields of interest at least. We need more arts people who can figure the ins and outs of the politicos if nothing else.
