Yeah...but what about people who have never seen those shows? (Like I) -- Would they have any idea who Jesse was at all? L&O is apparently one of the most popular shows on TV, but it's not like everyone watches it. Anyway, as I said before, my whole point wasn't really who was more popular -- I was saying that Anthony has had more experience with film, and therefore for that reason alone will probably be one of the cast members to make the most appearances.
Well, then to them, Jesse is no different than many of the others in the cast -- under the radar.
Anthony really knows what he's talking about, and he is SO PROUD of this movie. I really hope some of the publicity will give him a chance to speak.
Maybe, if he gets some recognition from the movie, he'll drop in on a talk show before his book comes out?
Although Anthony has more film experience (well known ones that is), and I'm sure we can all agree can articulate beautifully about the film (more so than other cast members at times), talk shows go for ratings. So while you or I may not watch Law and Order, a lot more people do, therefor Jesse would be the bigger draw.
ugh, I can NOT wait to read that book.
Neither can I. Once I get some extra money I'm pre-ordering it, because amazon has a reputation for shipping pre-ordered books days before the actual release date.
I hope Anthony goes on Conan. He always has people on his show I've never heard of. And what about Idina? Sure she hasnt been in many movies, she would be fun to see on a talk show.
I was young back then so forgive me: when i saw a beautiful mind (on tape mind you) i saw anthony's name in the credits and flipped out! Once i rewound and found him it all made sense....I had no idea!
i hope they break up the cast and split the for shows,
obviously jesse will do only shows on nbc (today) and not abc (regis) we already saw this. l&o isn't going to make their schedule to accomodate another network
rosario will be on most to attrack teen audiences
but i think adam, anthony and idina, maybe taye and wilson, will need to promote to a more sophisticated crowd ( not teenagers)
l&o isn't going to make their schedule
I think it goes more like "Jesse does the appearances IF he's not filming," not the other way around.
Adam and Idina not teen audiences? Streeeeeeetch.
the teen audiences who know them dont need promoting to, yes, especially idina's fanbase is already teens, but i think for people who dont know her from wicked will be older, look at the magazines she's been in recently (vogue, advocate) although i will be devestated to see any of them on the cover of teen people
Emcee, you went to Chitty tonight right? How was it?
haha, way to threadjack! I'll PM you.
Sorry :X
Back to Idina, Adam, and Teen Audiences.
Ah. By teen, I was assuming like... fifteen plus. I feel like "those" evil magazines are more in the early-teen area, though. Like that scary area of twelve and thirteen. But I live under a rock, so I could be wrong.
teen is high school like when you think you're cool because you read cosmo
haha, never did that, still don't. Told you I lived under a rock.
unfortunately a lot of girls do, they're like "omg it has sex tips, how mature are we? because we read this"
november magazines should all be out now and the only covers i've seen is the advocate and curve
i guess we can hope for the weeklies, like EW, but other than that there isn't much magazine press
Plus the Life covers, which are nothing to shake a stick at.
but those are free in newspapers
i mean sure it's one of the top read magazines, but so is aarp because they are free, it doesn't mean people read them
More widespread coverage, then. And since they're on the cover, people don't have to read the magazine to take notice. They don't even have to thumb through the thing to see a bunch of beautiful faces staring up at them, about whom they will hopefully take interest.
Actually, they've had a lot of magazine press, but they are mainly doing it in specific issues magazines, like The Advocate and Curve and Latina and HIV Plus. It's like they want to appeal to groups that are usually marginalized in films and let them know that their stories are finally getting out there. I personally think that's even better than something generic like EW, even if it is more popular.
i think it can be divisive. i bought the advocate for the ret cover story and it upset my mom because there's so much more to the story than homosexuality and she was upset that that was the angle they were using to sell the movie.
i juts dont know
i have seen paragraphs about the movie, but not a lot more since the taye/rosario photo shoot spread
Well, on one hand, that's one group to which the movie should sell. I mean, in part, that's what it's about. Yes, I agree that it's detrimental to market it only to one demographic, but if Rent is marketed demographically, that could be a good approach, since Rent is a sort of meeting of many different "sorts" of people.
On a similar note, The Advocate IS only one magazine. It's not like press in there is the only thing they've done, by any measure.
These next few weeks will be interesting, for sure.
zannahk, if the Taye/Rosario was the last thing you've seen, you should really check out all the "Rent article in ____" threads around here, because there's been a lot more.
