Rosie Perez socks it to Reidel-

Show Business at the Tribeca film festival this evening was an incredible theater experience.
At the end of the movie there was a talkback and Rosie dissed
Reidel.
It was pretty funny.
The butcher of Broadway got eaten alive by Rosie.
That alone was worth the price of admission.
On top of that I got to see the incredible cast of Q, including Jen Barnhardt, Natalie who I met for the first time. She is very nice. John Tags was outstanding as was Rick Lyon and Stephanie D'Abruzzo.
The movie will make you laugh, cry and admire all who were in it.
Except for Riedel.
If you can see it, it is outstanding.
Euan Morton made me want to cry. Hope that Taboo comes back to Broadway soon.

There will be a DVD release and this film is worth owning.
Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez were priceless in the film.
And Jeff Marx's dad stole some funny moments.
It was charming.
This is a movie worth owning people.
I loved it.

I was there too! Rosie called him OUT! It was perfect.

Oh. I should also mention that Jeanine Tesori was fantastic in the film.
Some funny moments with Tony Kushner. I never heard her curse and that is funny.
I loved every show in this film and all the people involved.
Euan was incredible. Tonya.
Stephanie when she was not allowed to get to the Tonys.
She is hysterical. Got to love Steph and Craig.
And of course John Tags. The sweetest guy in the world.

I read that article on Sunday. But after seeing the movie it is more interesting.

They actually booed Riedel.
He probably loves the attention.

Of COURSE he loves the attention. If he didn't, he would have retired years ago.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Dori announced plans to release the DVD after the theatrical release, but did not specify when that might be. She laughingly asked if any distributers were in the audience.

Thanks luvtheEmcee, I had read your post last night and found your review very informative.....however, no information around the Rosie/Reidel smackdown! In fairness, I know you were not the one who started this thread, so I didn't expect to see anything about it in your post last night. I saw the "bottom feeding pig" comments and the Boy George comments in your post and enjoyed them, of course. And I thank you for the detail you give in ALL your reviews on this board, they are great!

Maybe I'm alone in this (but somehow I doubt it), but it's very frustrating to open a thread with a title like "Rosie socks it to Riedel" and see someone post about how they thought it was great, but they really can't tell you about it.

During the brief talk-balk after the movie, Rosie Perez raised her hand to comment how the movie made the critics appear stupid, and she sort of singled out Michael Reidel by name. A funny moment.

Alright, from what I remember... there was a brief Q&A after the film, and somebody asked how the critics were feeling about their portrayal in the film. Someone asked if any of them were there, and I know Reidel definitely was, but he didn't speak up at all. Rosie Perez raised her hand and said something about how it made him look like an idiot, which got tons of applause. Then there was a comment about every institution needing to have its villian, so in that sense, maybe we should be thankful for Mr. Reidel. Obviously a joke, and pretty funny. Got a great audience reaction.

ETA - the "bottom-feeding pig" comment I cited wasn't in the film. It's something he said last Fall, in hindsight of everything Reidel did to Rosie and Taboo, and I just sort of never forgot it.
