Roxane Carrasco as Velma Kelly

For those who may care, Roxane will be playing Velma Kelly in Chicago on Broadway Friday, August 6th and both shows Saturday August 7th.

She's an amazing Velma and surely not to be missed. If you've been looking to see the show with Paige Davis and haven't yet, or just think Chicago is worth a re-visit, one of those two days would be the best time to do it.

Roxane will be playing opposite Marti Pellow as Billy Flynn and Paige as Roxie.

I'll be there!

Go see Rox....she's sooooooooooooooo talented. We worked together 3 years ago doing A Chorus Line. Never seen her Velma, but I've seen her in a bunch of other tracks in Chicago. Go see her.

For her flying splits alone, she is the most talented Velma I've ever seen (and yes, I saw her as Velma before I was friends with her).

I've taken numerous friends to see her performance (dry2olives included) and they've all walked away loving her!

Anyone who gets to see her as Velma will not be disappointed!

I've seen Brenda as Velma when they came to Wallingford....I'm curious about Roxane's Velma because of CJR raving about her. I might have to go see her now.

Maggie, I also went to the one in Wallingford? Which performance did you go to? I was at the Sunday 2 pm. I had left Orch Row E-K (forgot exactly) but then I moved up to Row B center because no one was there.

Yes! You have to go!!!!

The last time I saw Rox as Velma was over a year ago when she played opposite Tracy. On her opening night, she got a minute and a half of thunderous applause after I Can't Do It Alone (as a result of her flying splits). If that's not incentive and that doesnt scream "amazing" I dont know what does! lol

BTW, Maggie, I loooooove your icon! It's soooooo cute!

As for the tour, I was supposed to be in Wallingford, but that never panned out. Ah well, I wound up visiting/seeing Bianca when the tour leads sat down in the Broadway company in December.

I loved Bianca...she was soooooooooo funny!

Millie...I went to the Thursday night show...we got seats in the orchestra section but they were on the right at an angle...so the right side of the stage was a little blocked. I had seats at the same section when THE FULL MONTY came...which is when I decided that I wouldn't go see another show there unless I got center orchestra. The facility doesn't do any show justice. The sound is horrible...you can barely understand what they're singing...unless you know the words by heart...thank goodness that was the case with both shows!

Yes! Bianca is fabulous! I'm slightly peeved that the tour isn't coming back to Stamford... we haven't had a tour of Chicago in 4 years. Boo them! lol

I saw Chicago last year in May. I can't remember who was in it, but I was not that ecstatic about the cast.

May would have been Tracy Shayne as Roxie, Brenda Braxton as Velma, Angie Stone as Mama and Brent Barrett as Billy.

It's really sad that I know that.

Brenda and Tracy I found to be both AMAZING. I adored them... then again, I *am* quite partial to Tracy. Other people have told me her take on Roxie is an aquired taste, or that you either like her or hate her. I think she's phenomenally talented and wish she would get to play Roxie more often.

And of course, Brent Barrett... I can't say enough about him to do him justice. He's amazingly sweet and talented and GORGEOUS. It's always a joy to see him -- both onstage and off!

Angie Stone... we won't go there. Fills the ranks of the most god awful Mama I've ever seen.... well no, that's not true -- I think that award goes to BJ Crosby.

You may have seen an understudy? I'm almost positive Tracy was out for nearly a week towards the end of May.

CJR, the velma I saw was Pia Dowes. There was only ONE moment in teh show that i enjoyed her... act one finale. I was PRAYING for Charlotte to reach for the gun and shoot HER. Char and Roz (not to mention Rox, Dreg, Denis, and Jennifer) made up for it though!

Saw it in May of 02 and loved and am sure we'll love it even more on the 6th. I'm looking forward to seeing Roxane as Velma... Hope to see ya there CJR.
