Okay...this is a rumor. I repeat, a rumor:
(An "insider" for Phantom of the Opera film says it's true. They were surprised themselves but said there is a marketing strategy in place.)

Apparently the trailer for POTO will be attached to two films which are coming out soon. "The Notebook" which opens 6/26 and then Michael Moore's controversial documentary Farenheit 911.

I questioned the choice of those two opposite types of films and the insider (IMDB board)said it was part of marketing to a larger audience. "The Notebook" is a love story based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. It looks like a chick-flick/date night movie--therefore probably the "typical" viewer for POTO. And, given the current lust for action/computer imagery etc it may not last long at the theatres.

F911 is very political and may have a long stay at the box office. It's very intense and quite graphic/
disturbing. There is a battle to get it approved as PG-13 so more will see it.

Anyhow...that is the rumor. Thought I'd toss it out for your consideration. Be sure to post if you hear anything more about this...

And, if it IS true...we get our first look at the film version of POTO cast in action: Patrick Wilson, Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler, Minnie Driver, Miranda Richardson, etc.

Well, I'm going to see THE NOTEBOOK tomorrow, so I'll let you know if it's there or not.

Just FYI for those who miss Patrick Wilson, this was posted on the www.imdb.com messageboard for "The Phantom of the Opera (2004)" film:

"Emmy (Rossum) and Patrick take spots 89 and 90 on "The Must List" in the new Entertainment Weekly. It has a beautiful pic of Emmy, and Patrick as well. Not in costume though. Check it out."

Has anyone seen this? (And, what is "The Must" List?)

#7re: Patrick as the bad guy in his new film...

I posted this on the "off topic" list, too...

I was waiting for my car's state inspection and found a copy of the Entertainment Weekly with the Must List.

Patrick's picture is fabulous. He's dressed in black and looking quite handsome. The little blurb below it mentions his "Bright Lights, Big City" CD which comes out in the fall and that his new film, a thriller called "Hard Candy" begins shooting this month.

Word on www.patrickwilson.org is that Patrick is playing a criminal in this film. He's a guy who seduces teens as part of a scam. I'm wondering if this script is based on the Andrew Vachss novel of the same name which is a detective story/thriller? (It's part of a series with an ex-con detective named Burke.)If so, Patrick's character (in the book)runs a "safehouse" for teens which is anything but.

Looks like Patrick is stretching his acting muscles this time and playing a bad guy! Oh my! From Raoul in POTO to this?! :o)
