By the way, when is he going to volunteer to go to jail -- or is just a hypocrite? For YEARS and YEARS, he advocated that any and all drug users be locked up and they should throw away the key; that even a child knows drugs are wrong and illegal and that there should be a zero tolerance policy and anyone caught with illegal drugs should be jailed immediately regardless of any extenuating circumstances; and that not one dime of taxpayer money should be spent on drug prevention or rehabilitation.
He illegally acquired and used THOUSANDS of illicit tablets of oxycontin. If he weren't a rich, white celebrity, he'd be automatically facing a mandatory sentence of 25 to life (simply for the sheer quantity of what he possessed). So, when's he turning himself in? Perhaps, he's coming here to take a tour of Riker's to see if that's to his liking.
Frankly, he should keep his butt in Orange County. We already have enough drug addicts here.

When Rush was on television I tried to watch his show a few times, because I believe it is important to try to understand your enemy, but my stomach couldn't take it. He wouldn't last five seconds in a debate--if he had to go up against someone using actual facts, he'd shut right down. And he'd never risk a conversation or phone call with someone who wasn't a fawning fan. He isn't a serious political commentator--he traffics in the lowest, oldest, smelliest showbiz tradition--"give 'em what they want." And thanks to him, the country is now full of zombified "dittoheads" (perfect name) soaking up his "liberals ruined everything" pap.

I'm not missing any point. I just refuse to denounce anyone for legally raising money for the hurricane relief, regardless of their political rants, regardless for their criminal background, regardless of their shtick. That's my point, that's my bottom line. I have no other agenda.

'debate and criticism is what democracy is about except when it applies to people you disagree with like Rush'
No no etoile thats not what I was saying at all...Did I ever suggest that Rush's show should be banned, censored, or even that it lacked quality (thats another debate)?...No I have no problem with Rush speaking his mind, I have a problem when he speaks his mind under the vail of a "relief effort"...I think the Red Cross would love a check from Rush or ANYONE who is giving them money so long as it wasnt obtained unethically or illegally, but thats neither here nor there so I'm not sure why you brought it up. Again as i said before there are many other ways he probably could have raised more money that could have reached a larger audience, gotten more funds, and gotten the money to ppl who need it faster. Top of my head examples: telvision special ala 9/11 relief (raised billions), city to city tour, all royalties from books/radio show will go to victims for the next year, internet campaign.
Surely he can't be doing it to create greater exposure for relief efforts because BROADWAY is not in mainstream culture 99.9 % of the country will have had no idea this took place at all. And if not for exposure than why do this at all and not something that could be more profitable for victims. Oh wait hes just doing this to cause a scene in the liberal mecca of NYC.
I DONT CARE IF RUSH IS PARTISAN. PARTSANSHIP IS NATURAL AND EVEN HEALTHY AS IT ALLIGNS PEOPLE AND IDEAS. The fact that hes partisan isnt what I'm upset about its that hes going to be partisan at something that shouldnt be partisan.
Oh wait I should give Rush a chance...this could be non-partisan...then why would he have chosen this kind of an event with Sean freakin' Hannity...again there are so many better ideas to help the cause that COULD HAVE RAISED MORE MONEY. He'd be an idiot not to do one of those if he was going to be non-partisan. And Rush is no idiot. He's an evil jack***, but by no means an idiot...
Etoile, it is absolutely legal and just that Rush raise money for the victims. It is also legal and just for the KKK to do the same, or Pat Rbertson or the cast of "Hey That's My Tractor." Some of us just find it odd that someone like him would be interested in helping those he's scapegoated and demonized all these YEARS.
Is there any other information on this? How will people be able to purchase tickets?

More info:
"RUSH Limbaugh is coming to Broadway next month in a one-night, one-man show to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims.
The conservative talk-radio superstar — who once did a walk-on as Wiley Post in "The Will Rogers Follies" — will star in "Rush on Broadway" Oct. 18.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today at $77 — his dial position in New York on flagship station WABC (770 AM).
Limbaugh will force Disney's "Lion King" to go dark for the night at the company-owned New Amsterdam Theatre on West 42nd Street. Disney also owns WABC, which is sponsoring the charity event, according to Limbaugh spokesman Kit Carson.
The top-rated talker's WABC colleague and Fox News Channel star Sean Hannity will provide what the station calls "a special introduction."
"Rush is the Babe Ruth of our business. He's adored by tens of millions of people, and this event will help raise more sorely needed money for the relief effort. I am honored to be part of it," Hannity said.
Most likely, Limbaugh will perform an updated version of his "Rush to Excellence" show, a series of live lectures he gave when he was establishing his radio show in the late '80s and early '90s."

The Lion King doesn't have to go dark for the night -- it doesn't have Tuesday night performances anyway. By why only $77 for a benefit? BCEFA and Actor's Fund Benefits have a top ticket price many times that amount. His wealthy fans can afford it -- why not try and raise more money than that?
Rush and Kristin Chenoweth can do a duet together... I vote for TWO LOST SOULS from DAMN YANKEES.

We can't be logical while operating in Rush's world, Margo...
And what happens to the 2,000 people who have tickets for The Lion King that night? Undoubtedly parents bought tickets months ago and have plans to take their children. What happens when they get all the way to New York and find a bile-spewing fat man on stage instead of Simba?
