Ryan Murphy coproducing Long Days Journey

Hi, something I've just remembered is that Ryan Murphy is coproducing Long Days Journey Into the Night at the Roundabout, and would anyone here know what his motive would be, is it purely to support Jessica Lange?

Does Roundabout often have coproducers - and why would they need them? Thanks!
