I take it she was in the first workshop, but I don't consider that the "original". Lea Michele, having done almost all the workshops and opened the show off and on broadway, is the original in the sense of the final drafts and version of the show. I wouldn't consider Kerry Butler to be the original Elle even though she workshopped Legally Blonde.

Haven was Wendla in the workshop in 1999 in La Jolla. Unfortunately, by the time they got it to New York, they felt she was too old to play the part.
