SAVE THE FOX THEATER MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY

As members of the current Montclair State University Theatre & Dance department, we wanted to reach out to the community in hopes of gaining support in saving one of our most important Theaters on campus. Our university administration has put a plan in place to reallocate this theatre away from our department. They failed to inform us and consider the impact it would have on our education, and have shown little interest in changing their resolve even after students have started speaking out. They are trying to take our only black box theater and turn it into a VR lab. We don’t have much information on what the VR space will actually function like, but all we know is that the theater will no longer be a supportive multi-purpose environment for any programs operating within the department of Theatre & Dance. We would love for you to sign and share our petition, and it would be amazing to hear from you about your thoughts on theatre education and the impacts of underfunding the arts.
