Encore Theatre Company is proud to announce auditions for a revival of the classic British farce by Phillip King, See How They Run, to be directed by Joel Meriwether.
Auditions will be Monday, December 13 and Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00pm, at the Encore facility, 6978 Lebanon Road, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.
Roles are available for three women (30 – 60) and six men (20 – 65). Rehearsals begin January 3 and the show opens on Friday, February 18.
Rehearsals will be fairly intense due to the physical nature of the play.
Character Breakdown as follows
Penelope Toop (female lead) -- late 20s/early 30s -- saucy American actress who does not like having to live up to the "vicar's wife" model
Lionel Toop -- older than Penelope by a few years -- husband to Penelope and the Vicar of Merton-cum-Middlewick; rather stiff British vicar who is a bit absent-minded.
Ida -- 25+ -- the Toop's Cockney domestic servant who loves to kick up her heels, man-hungry but simple
Ms. Skillon -- late 40s/early 50s -- the parish nosy-busybody who has a crush on Lionel, Penelope's husband; instigator of the mistaken identities and ends up drunk and locked in a closet (British)
Bishop of Lax -- 55 and older -- Penelope's uncle who has come to offer her husband a job in his vicarage. (British)
Clive Winton -- same age as Penelope -- Penelope's former acting partner with whom she toured in a Noel Coward production of Private Lives, who is "exuberantly fey." (American)
The Intruder -- early to mid 20s -- Russian spy who has escaped from his WWII holding cell
Vicar Humphrey -- mid 40s to early 60s -- mild-mannered, nervous, vicar who has come to Lionel's vicarage to give Sunday's sermon (Irish)
Sergeant Tower -- 40s -- Cockney police officer in "hot pursuit" of The Intruder
Headshot and resume preferred, but not required.
