Just a little PSA...
The Republicans are here, New Yorkers are gone, and every show has available seats right now for just about any performance. Go see a show tonight! (or anytime during the convention) There are great deals at the TKTS booth, as well as at each individual theatre.
Do they have CAROLINE on the board, I want to see it one last time.
SOB. They were going to be my next event. I wanted to interview Jeanine and Tonya.
Life sucks!

I doubt they have Wicked or TBFO tix though--the 2 hot tix everyone wants.
I just got an email from the Avenue Q mailing list, and they're also encouraging people to buy tickets. They're using the political campaign ads again, and this time it says: "Putting Broadway First: Rod wants YOU!" There's a great picture of Rod pointing at the camera, and the email says that there are still tickets available this week.
I hope you all support Broadway this week, and sneer at the Republicans on your way to the theatre!

Haviland2, if I was closer, I would go to a show with you. You are gorgeous! (if that is you in your icon)
Well, I thank you for that, doll, but I'm working tonight! I'm in FIDDLER!

Haviland2, you're in fiddler...on broadway?
and if i was in nyc (or close to it) I would be seeing a show.
:-P
Man, I would go to NY just to see you in Fiddler. You are breathtaking.

not to pry or anything and maybe you've answered this already on this site, but how come you're on this website? I mean it's having someone here from broadway and you're a celebrity compared to the rest of us!
**** I hope you don't take this question the wrong way

Probably because she is still one of 'us'. When she was our age, she probably was just like the aspiring artists here on this message board. Now she wants to inspire others. She still loves Broadway...so why can't she post about it?

I'm hoping to see some extra shows while I'm in NYC next week. Might as well take advantage of being in the city during the convention insanity. Already have tix to Oz, and planning to check out TKTS to see what's up for some other nights.
Ebonic_Singer, don't despair. Since NY will be deserted, maybe no one will show up for the Wicked lottery. Hey we can dream, right?

Haviland2... just a random question. Do you know Rita Harvey by any chance. (And while we're at it, John Cariani) Just curious b/c I met them in July during a camp w/Neil Berg. Great folks! John's such a nice guy.
Haviland - I couldn't resist. You were right! You do look a LOT like her!

Bombay Dreams

did I miss any?
Lucifer, there are quite a few 'pros' that frequent these sites. And Marc Shaiman, for one, is probably roiling over the idea that he would not be considered one of the recognizable ones.
But there ARE others.
As for going to see a show...I applaud the effort but most people will say 'how?' With the possible exception of those who live in NYC and can't get out, there are few who can GET to a show in this chaos. And even the New Yorkers don't necessarily want the hassle of trying to get around the unanticipated messes that are likely to crop up even before people from RNC are here and ready to party.
It isn't fair to Broadway, but no one really gave much thought to the economy of this city before they planned this convention, did they?

Really--I doubt shows will close from bad attendance just from the convention time, but who knows? That would deeeeeefinately not be good.
Haha yeah--with my luck the wicked lottery will still be crowded!!
Yes, of course i know Rita Harvey and John Cariani. I adore them both! Rita went on as Tzeitel in FIDDLER tonight, so she got married to John! We're all gearing up for the Republicans tomorrow...
oh, and seriously, there is NO ONE around times square, so its not as annoying to get to theatres as you may think...so come to the shows...we'll love you for it!
I second the gorgeous comment.

haha, I actually remember seeing your headshot when I saw Fiddler a few months ago and thinking, "That's a cool headshot!" :) Updated On: 8/29/04 at 11:58 PM

Was that directed to me? No, I'm the one who plugs Cheyenne Jackson in any random spot I can, not Max :) Updated On: 8/29/04 at 12:16 AM
