I have been DYING to see this documentary!! I *really* hope that promised DVD release comes through...and SOON!
I'm just read about this and it seems really interesting. I hope it is released on DVD as well because I live far, far away from anywhere cool, so odds are it won't show in the theatres here.
I'm very excited, although the film will seem a bit dated due to the delayed release date. Oh well. That's the way it goes.
I see something like this opening well at Film Forum, but I wonder if they wouldn't try to put it closer to the midtown theatre district.
Since Regent Releasing is putting it out, I'm guessing it'll open at the Quad Cinema on 13th Street. That's where everything else they release opens in New York.
Any oppotunity to see this film once agian, I'm in! Its such an incredible film and I'm so happy for Dori Berinstein's success!
I don't think it will really be dated -- the film was originally screened at Tribeca after all of the events it depicts. It's a documentary on a process that happens every year, and follows a season in pretty recent memory. It's still relevant. If things happened completely differently now than they did in '04, then you could call it dated. It has nothing to do with the fact that you know the outcome of the events you're watching.
THE MAKING OF MISS SAIGON isn't outdated, and that was made in what? 1988?
