Does anyone else think certain shows should remain, and if revived be put in the same theatre. Some theatre's are icons for certain shows. To make sense...A Chorus Line...I think if it was revived it should be back in The Shubert. I also think for some reason it would do better..."A Chorus Line, back at the Shubert!"...idk. If you think this is stupid dont answer lol.
Some others:
Cats:The Winter Garden
West Side Story: The Winter Garden (though it probably wont be)
Sweet Charity: The Palace (Though it probably wont be)
certain shows make theatres theatres (and vise versa)
Does anyone know what Im saying cuz this sure feels like an ending to me lol:)
if u can think of others...

Cabaret at Stuio 54!!
Not originally where it was, but it worked so perfectly with the recent revival.

What I mean is many papers are bashing Alfred Molina just because he is no Zero Mostel. I think the same goes for people playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl (specially in High Schools...what do they think, Barbra is gonna go to every high school and perform lol). Also many girls who play Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz get the same thing

Posted: 8/26/04 at 8:45pmStars definately get bashed by non-fans by not copying the original. When someone stars in a revival, they need to make roles their own, not copy the original. However, I believe we here on the message board understand roles cannot be duplicated, but revival stars can be praised for an original spin (for the most part *ahem*Kerry Butler*ahem* lol)

I saw Cabaret at both Henry Miller's Theatre and at Studio 54. It worked fine in Studio 54, but because Henry Miller's Theatre was half the size of Studio 54, the show really came on like gangbusters. I preferred it in the smaller house, though it didn't really lose anything at Studio 54. It just felt a little more remote to me.
And as for Les Miserables, it originally opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it played (in a bigger physical production) for about four years prior to moving to the Imperial for the rest of its run. It's probably better remembered at the Imperial, but it could just as easily return to the Broadway.

Posted: 8/27/04 at 2:21pmDo replacements get bashed!? How about every revival of Gypsy! I'm surprised Bernadette Peters didn't have to wear a neckbrace from that backlash.

I will always associate " La Cage" with the Palace
"Evita" with the Broadway theatre
"Oklahoma!" with the St. James
