Is there any word or indication that they are planning on making a cast recording? I figure since its dreamworks first show they would but Im a man so being wrong is what I do.
They already had a song available as a free download for promotional purposes, so I'm sure if it's around for a bit, a cast recording is most likely.
I'm attending the last preview. I figure it's as good as seeing it once it's officially opened. By then they'll have anything worked out that they choose.

They aren't allowed to bring candy and stuff to their seats, but the management seemed pretty relaxed on this rule. For one, I had a bottle of water and a luna bar in my bag and they didn't search it - like they do at most other shows. And I saw a man carry in two bottles of water and 4 things of candy from the concessions and no one stopped him.
They had a pre-order form for a cast recording...but no dates set as of yet.
There were some children, but not as many as at a Disney show (though the little girl behind me made up for it with her feet on my chair. At least she was quiet.). I'd definitely rank this FAR FAR above TLM. Not even in the same strata ~ not even close.
Actually, Billy Elliot was only nominated for screenplay, director, and supporting actress (Julie Walters) at the Oscars. It wasn't nominated for any Golden Globes.
Oops! I stand corrected. For some reason, I remember Billy Elliot being nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, but I was wrong. It was nominated for 2 Golden Globes in 2001, however: Best Picture - Drama and Julie Walters was nominated for Supporting Actress.

They replaced Keaton Whittaker, right?

I don't know who that is.
I hope they wise up and change the dragon around. It was almost a "too literal" interpretation of the movie character. I mean, I guess they shot themselves in the foot a little bit with the costumes. They took Shrek's costume very literal, so in turn, you'd expect everyone else's costumes to be quite literal, but Donkey's is awful. He just looks furry and awkwardly shaped. They need to give him a snout or something. Right now he looks like a bunny up top, and any ol' animal down below.
I have to say I'm very excited about this show! I cannot wait for the cast recording. I have no doubt there will be one. This is a big commodity, after all.

To answer your question, RentBoy, she was one of the Young Fionas.
On all the promotional releases I've read, there are no mentions of Keaton Whittaker. Did they take her to Broadway? I know that she did it in Seattle (and definitely had the stronger voice of the two...) but not sure if she came to Broadway because she is a local Seattle girl.
Young Fionas are: Leah Greenhaus and Rachel Resheff

Yeah, she did it in Seattle. Sounds like they replaced her. Oh well. Them's the breaks.
Anyone come in with an approx. running time?

Saw it last night and went in with a really open mind... I actually enjoyed it. I got more of a Spamalot feel to it where it was the movie but from a different angle. I also liked how they threw Zorro in there, and bashed Rent with Nessie going over the moon and the Lion King reference. HILARIOUS!
The only song I remotely remember was the Freak on song. John T did a great job.
But they need to really work on the sound because there were times where I could barely hear/understand Daniel Breaker.
But other colleagues and myself got scared when we saw the herd of like 3 kids classes coming in through the lobby but they were actually well behaved.
There was a kid in the 2nd Act that started to scream and cry and I felt like I was in Sunday Mass...
I'm a little bit mixed on the Dragon though... I'd be curious to hear it with the one woman singing. But I did like how they operated the Dragon with the eyes blinking, half opened and winking!
