Has anyone heard about this musical?? It closed around 1987. It's an awesome show and I was wondering if anyone had any pictures from the original cast or knew where I could find them!!
Thanks

Well, there is a movie called Smile with Bruce Dern, that may sort of be a take off of musical. But it certainly does not have Disneyland in it. I suffered through watching it tonight just wanting to hear "Disneyland" which I think is a great song. I wonder if Melanie Griffith is embarassed that she had even a small role in movie. Like you, I would love to know more about musical.

I did this show last year, I played Cookie. If there is anything you need to know just ask me. :0)

Do you know who has rights to Smile? Has it ever been recorded?

momto- i dont know who owns the rights, i think its mti, but i'm sure you can find out online. the entire score has never been recorded. there are three songs from the show that are on the CD "Unsung Musicals" that is the best way to get ahold of any music from the show.

Samuel French holds the rights to SMILE... and the score was not recorded, but there was a demo recording made by Ashman and Hamlisch with the original cast (which I own...).

And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

I would just love to hear a recording. How did you obtain yours? Thanks

Yes, I would love to hear that too. Any suggestions how to obtain a copy?

The show ran only a few weeks late 1986-early 1987 - I believe it was based on the movie. I had planned to go see it at the time, but it closed before I got the chance. It starred Jodi Benson, Anne Marie Bobby, Marsha Waterbury, Veanne Cox - can't remember who else, but I'm sure that information is available somewhere online.
