I'm so glad this show is having a future beyond Broadway! Judy really struts her stuff in this role and all of you L.A. people should do your best to get out and see her while she's there!

I am so MAD!
This was supposed to come to South Florida with Judy Kaye - but the theatre that was doing it went bankrupt.
Damn!

This show remains one of our favorite Broadway memories. The so-bad-it-was-good Florence Foster Jenkins was the William Hung of the 1940s. While stage-dooring Sweeney Todd in August, my daughter told Judy Kaye how much she loved Souvenir, especially the Mexican number. My fave was the aria from The Magic Flute. Truly bad and painfully funny. We wish there'd been a cast recording, so we could turn it up and make our ears bleed.

You L.A. fans are so lucky to see this wonderful show again!
Here's a nifty video interview with the divine Judy & her terrific co-star Donald Corren on THEATER TALK from last December.
(An interview with Marshall Brinkman & Rick Elice of JERSEY BOYS precedes the SOUVENIR segment)
You will need Quicktime or RealVideo to see the clip.

Posted: 10/15/06 at 3:48amSaw a preview performance at the Brentwood Theater in LA tonight. I think the show and performances are brilliant. Judy Kaye is wonderful. Definitely a must see in LA right now (in addition to Cherry Jones in Doubt at Ahmanson, which I'm seeing tomorrow).
