Posted: 4/18/05 at 9:57amI went to a Saturday matinee last monrth and all the actors came out. They were incredible nice and signed playbills and took pictures with anyone who wanted them. I think after they greeted everyone, they all just went right back in the theater. I was really surprised by how genial they all were- particularly Hnak Azaria and David Hyde Pierce who posed together with fans.

Posted: 4/18/05 at 10:29amI second cate_w's post. Except when I went, Tim Curry did not come out. But both Hank Azaria and David Hyde Pierce signed for each and every person who wanted an autograph or to take a picture. Really nice guys.

Posted: 4/18/05 at 10:33amI ran into Tim Curry on his way TO Spamalot. He was in a hurry and as an actor, I respected his space and pre-show need to center himself. However, we exchanged a polite greeting and he continued on his way. I'm not a gee-whiz autograph person, but the vibe I got from him was positive and approachable.

Tim is incredibly approchable. Typically he does get stopped on his way INTO the theatre -- Friday was actually the first time in a while nobody noticed him.
All the actors do (for the most part) come out after the matinee. On an occasion, Tim won't come out but that's only if the weather's nasty (it's not good for his voice) or he has visitors. All cast members are absolute dolls and I have nothing but the best to say about each and every one of them.

Posted: 4/22/05 at 9:09pmI've never waited outside a stage door but want to for this show. About how long after the show ends before the cast comes out? Thanks

Not long at all. I think it took about 10 minutes, tops, for them to come out with me.
I went to a Saturday Matinee and unfortunately missed Tim Curry. Sara Ramirez was also in a hurry to get out. But Hank and David both stayed and signed autographs for anyone who wanted one. :) Chris Sieber stuck around for awhile, too.
VERY nice guys. Both Hank and David were talking it up with the fans, heh.

Posted: 4/23/05 at 9:48amThe first time I went was the Wednesday matinee and everyone came out except for Sara and Christian. I went again on a Sunday matinee and DHP and Tim Curry didn't come out. That Wednesday was the day before they opened so they were in a bit of a rush but the second time I went they took their time to sign autographs and take pictures. Hank was especially generous and retook pictures if they came out bad.

Has the stage door quieted down as of late, since most of the OBC is now gone?
I am supposed to meet up with Lauren Kennedy after I see the show in two weeks, and she told me that she usually is the first out so she will try to take her time that night, but to still try and get there as fast as I can.. since I am in the middle of Row F, I am worried that I will not have enough time to make it there and get up front if it's a mob scene...

Posted: 6/27/06 at 11:22pmI went back in Feburary and all the actors came out, but Lauren Kennedy blew by & Christopher Sieber. David Hyde Pierce was so hysterical and nice and took pictures & signed for everyone. He ended up in this 20 people full group picture, which they asked me to take for them, these people, so funny his reaction. Hank was sweet and quoted THE BIRDCAGE to this lady & Simon was very nice. I missed Christopher, he didnt come out which pissed me off cause I loved him in TWO OF A KIND & ITS ALL RELATIVE.

ClumsyDude, Lauren told me that since she is a redhead in the show (but a blonde in real life,) people often don't recognize her at the stage door. For that reason, she doesn't really stop unless people stop her, because she isn't sure whether people know who she is or not, lol.
But back to the topic at hand... anyone know how it's been as of late?

Posted: 6/27/06 at 11:40pmOh. I am sorry to hear that then! Her daughter Riley is very very young, so if she was in a rush, I am sure it was just to get home and see her.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 12:09amI saw the show this past weekend and Lauren came out and signed for everyone there. She was in a bit of a hurry to get home but she has a young daughter home so I understand that. The rest of the cast who came out were very nice and took picture with those who asked.

I't wasn't really crowded I'm guessing there was about 30 people there so it's not as crazy as it used to be but there still was a good deal of people waiting.

Musical_nerd,
If you can get there before the show, leave Lauren a note at the stage door telling her that you want to meet her after that performance.
I have done this with other actors, and it works really well. Good luck!

I stagedoored when it was still the original cast and there were SOME people, not really crowded... course it was chilly and rainy
DHP was soooooo sweet and cute and Hank did his BIRDCAGE schtick for us as well
Sending a note backstage through on of the ushers or security is a good way to get their attention and let them know you wish to meet them.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 9:38amIt's really a crapshoot these days. Ive been through the alley on days when there's practically nobody there and then there have been other times (like a few weeks ago when I was meeting a friend from the theatre) when it's been crowded as all hell.
