The extended run has now sold out as well. I spoke to Gideon last night and he & the cast & everyone connected with this production are ovewhelmed by the response. This was all so unexpected and thrilling for all of them to be given this opportunity. This is a hilarious, touching, witty play-a truly black comedy. The cast is terrific, with a break out performance by Sarah Steele. I am really happy for all involved and I Tip my hat to Roundabout...if this is any indication of things to come for the Black Box theater, we are all in for a treat!!
Any chance of a further extension?
Hurrah! I loved this play.

There has been talk of a transfer to another off-broadway house.

Yes please?
I couldn't get tickets. It was very sad.

Yeah, I went by yesterday evening and they were entirely sold out except for a pair that opened for last night's show and for 8 single tickets on December 23rd. I couldn't go to either date. I suppose I'll keep checking back for cancellations. I wanted to see this early, but waited for a friend who ended up seeing it without me...kind of lame. But hopefully the opportunity will arise, or I'll luck out or something.

Perhaps they could transfer to the Barrow Street -- one of the few commercial off-Broaday houses that's had a few long runs in recent years -- once GONE MISSING closes after New Year's. Or maybe New World Stages (though nothing ever seems to recoup there).

At least one of my shows is up and running for tomorrow. I'm excited to finally see this!
Wow, that is really good news. I was hoping to get in on that extension because I only saw it the first night of previews. Hopefully it will transfer because I seem to have missed the boat again.

I would LOVE to see this transfer to Broadway in the circle in the square. Although Broadway may not be the best thing for it....I think it would be great in that space.
I hope colleges and regional theatres are all over this when it starts to get licensed.

I really don't see this play going from a 64 seat theater to the almost 800 seat Circle in the Square. It's charms are too small and intimate for that and besides, while it's a nice little piece that got some encouraging reviews (partly because it WAS a small fledging work by a young developing playwright), I can't imagine that a lot of producers would be willing to sink a couple of million dollars into it (which would be the minimum it would cost to transfer it to any Broadway house, including CitS).
Put it in a 200 seat house like Barrow Street or Cherry Lane or one of the theatres in the Theatre Row complex or the New World Stages complex. There it could retain its smallish charms, not be overwhelmed by its space and not have the pressure of having to sell thousands of tickets a week to tourist audiences in order to survive.

I agree Margo- I spoke to Gideon about another extension or move to another theater. He said, as of now, that is unlikely, but things could change. He said they would prefer to keep it in a small, initmate setting. The play works best in that enviroment.
I already have my ticket to the final performance. I'm glad I bought it right when they announced the extension.
I completely adore this show, but I'd be concerned about its survival outside of the small black box space. I wish Roundabout could just extend it in that space for a few more months, or eventually until the end of the season. It really is a great fit for the show, though I'm sure they're ready to move onto their next project.
New World Stages' smallest theatre is 199 seats, and I could totally see it working in there. Anything larger would be a death trap.
Is there a chance for me to get a ticket, if I call Roundabout during the day of the performance for those subsribers cancelling for the same day show? (standy tickets) ot its COMPLETELY sold -out and no chance of getting any ticket at all ?

jaystarr: Your best chance is to show up at the theater at least an hour before showtime for any cancellations. You have to be there to purchase the tickets, they will not hold them for you.
Good Luck!
silversurfer: Incorrect.
Jay, if you call Roundabout on the day of the performance and ask if any tickets were made available for that day's performance, they will let you order them with a credit card over the phone.

I stopped by yesterday again about one hour before curtain (matinee) and was told to come back at half-hour. It may vary by the day as I went Friday at about 1:30 to curtain and was given an answer. Hopefully I'll luck out one of these days; it won't be during the strike, though, it seems.
^^^ Thank you guys !
That's what I'm going to do call the day before (say after 6 pm) to ask if there's any cancellation for the next day..since I am coming from Boston.. I DEFINITELY cannot miss this one!
I am planing to see two more Off-Broadway shows before the end of the year.
(this one) SPEECH & DEBATE and GONE MISSING. Too bad - I miss YANK
Thanks again

I should have been more detailed-I thought I was answereing the question-if they hold tickets. Of course you can purchase them over the phone if their are any cancellations.
Good Luck jaystarr and anyone else trying to get seats.

Me thinks SilverSurfer just wanted to brag about his talking to a cast member.
I have a "stupid" question? Do they give out playbill or just a program?

You will get a program-put out by The Roundabout. It looks like a Playbill. It has the cast, playwright, director info. etc.
