So, this is for the people who are in the New Orleans area. I really didn't know where to post this, so ignore if you're not interested, I suppose. :)
I'm currently in a really great regional production (also the regional premiere) of SPRING AWAKENING in Nola. We open tonight and run every Thurs-Sun the rest of the month. It's at The Southern Rep theatre in The Shops at Canal Place and if you're in the area or close, you don't want to miss this show. I never advertise my own shows on forums in any way, but it's a really great production. Also, it was just announced that we are to be the last show to perform in this space in the Quarter, after being there for over 20 years.

I have to say, I LOVE New Orleans, but I wish they got more tours. It's a beautiful city (one of my favorite in the country), but the lack of theatre there kills the city for me.
(Sorry, I've been dying to rant about that somewhere.)
That said, if I was in the area for your production, I would've gone. Best of luck to all involved!

Posted: 1/13/12 at 4:58pmNew Orleans used to get a ton of tours, but after Katrina wiped out the beautiful Saenger theatre, things kinda started going down. That being said, it's getting so much better! The Addams Family launched their tour here, Rock of Ages and Shrek were just here and they're going to re-open the Saenger sometime within the next year or two with The Lion King. So, it's getting back to where it was. Also, it has a very nice regional and community theatre scene with people like Theatre 13, Jefferson Performing Arts Society, Tulane, Southern Rep and many others. It's just not what it was before the storm, but we're getting there. :)

Posted: 1/18/12 at 12:38pmThe Lion kIng will be at the Mahalia Jackson, Not the Saenger. It is slated for reopening later this year (post Lion King). So hopefully when it opens NOLA will get tours at Mahalia and Saenger! P.S. I am seeing Spring Awakening on Sat!
