STRIKE OVER
STRIKE OVER#1

The members of the WGA overwhelmingly voted to go back to work on television and film projects today.
Those of us who are WGA and DGA and SAG members (and I'm presumptuously speaking for all of them) who post on this site appreciate the supportive comments that many of you have left over the past three months.
And I'd like to thank the members who took a few minutes to PM me about this strike and that other thing over the past few weeks.
I'm proud to be in the WGA and equally as proud to be on Broadwayworld.com.

We're all back to work tomorrow. I have conference calls in the afternoon with producers and a studio guy, so yeah, it better be over, cause momma never raised no scab.
We will vote to ratify over the next ten days, but since 92% voted to stop striking, the ratification is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

allofmylife, I am glad you guys are back to work... I'm also glad to have someone in the WGA to actually talk to.
Ok, so... My favorite TV show is CSI: Las Vegas with Marg Helgenberger and William Petersen. CBS (as well as the other studios) cancelled numerous contracts. I am confused as to what that means. Is that equal to firing? Will there be new writers for my show? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let that be the case because they sure messed it up over the last year and few months *lol*
Thank you in advance for any info!

It's okay, tzaber. It was nothing. Go back to sleep dear....
I can tell you that ABC intends to try to bring "Desperate Housewives" back for a limited number of episodes ASAP. I know people on the show and they report back to work this morning.
Most of the hit shows may squeeze out a few episodes, but there is a huge amount of work to do to accomplish this. It's not just that there are no finished scripts (if there were, they would have filmed them) it's the enormous logistics of starting up a several-hundred-person production all over again.
CSI is a mainstay for CBS and I'm sure they'll restaff ASAP.
It's likely that shows "on the bubble" - ie shows which have no major audience - are waiting for word, but the big hits will come as fast as possible.
Before anyone asks, no "Heroes" until next season.

This is, I understand, the last season of "Scrubs" and I know that Bill Lawrence has a story arc he wants to use to wrap up the series. Apparently he says it'll take 5 episodes.
That, of course means NBC will give him three.

You will, of course, remember who the voice of reason was last week - I just know you will :)
And, the settlement, despite claims that the DGA's deal was TERRIBLE, is, in fact, very close. I believe the WGA got one thing that betters our deal, but only in the third year of the contract and the gain, according to the Hollywood Reporter, was "modest."
Now that the hyperbole and bombast are done (just as in the stagehands' strike), everyone who is in the film and TV business can go back to work. And that's a GOOD thing!

PUSHING DAISIES is definitely NOT coming back this season, Bryan Fuller calls it their "teaser season." They did get the green light for the fall, but until then there won't be any more of this brilliant show.
HEROES is another one that isn't coming back although word is that Volume 3 will start in the summer rather than the fall.
PRIVATE PRACTICE is coming back in the fall as well, no more episodes will air this season.
UGLY BETTY, GREY'S ANATOMY, LOST, 30 ROCK, THE OFFICE, and (as allofmylife said) DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES will all most likely come back as soon as April/May to wrap up their seasons. From what I read, THE OFFICE is trying to do as much as 10 episodes, while others are only doing something like 5.

Pushing Daisies I can see being up in the air. Only because it's a new show, and didn't get the full amount of time a new show would to find an audience.
According to TV guide. Bill Lawrence's plan with scrubs is that if he doesn't get the five episode deal or three or whatever. He was going to do it via DVD.

I actually meant Dasies will probably come back, not come back this season. I don't know people on that show. I only menat in the long run it will be back. It got great reviews and is the type of show that deserves a break.
Sorry for the confusion.
Actually, I think there is an announcement on the wires about what returns when (my sise-in-law was quoting April 17th for the nets.)
