BBW recently posted an excellent interview w/ Maksim Chmerkovskiy. A highlight was his comments about SWAY. Thought I'd create a thread about this incredible show. Here's the interview link: https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/BWW-Interview-Maksim-Cmkerkovskiy-Talks-SWAY-Jewelry-and-Broadway-20141111
Had the good fortune to see both SWAY shows this past summer and my review is at https://tinyurl.com/nqjzscc. It was brilliant. It's not 'just a dance show'. Much, much more to it. It's a story of American cultural evolution as represented through movement, music, and quality production values set in three Acts, which serve as a time capsule: Golden Age of Ballroom, Urban Fusion, and Passion of Latin. Fittingly, for our American melting pot, the dances in each act are a fusion of sometimes surprising styles, such as a Quickstep with Salsa.
SWAY 2.0 has an even more storied cast w/ loads of familiar faces from Dancing With the Stars. Amazing depth of talent and those participating are as much family as professional colleagues to the shows principals & Dance With Me USA partners, Maks & Val Chmerkovskiy and Tony Dovolani. Peta Murgatroyd returns for 2.0 and is joined by Sharna Burgess, Henry Byalikov, Artem Chigvintsev, Jenna Johnson, and Serge Onik. On one day, each for two shows will be special guests Olympic Gold Medalist Meryl Davis and Actress/Singer Zendaya on 12/17 and 12/21, respectively.
My adult daughter and I will be attending three of eight SWAY 2.0 shows this December. It's that good! If you love dance, American culture, and are intrigued by a fusion of both, you'll love SWAY.
December 17-21, 2014 at The SPACE in Westbury. Tickets at SWAYshow.com, follow on @SWAYshow.
