Although it's obviously not a musical, the 1939 film "Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street" has been released on DVD. The film stars "Tod Slaughter" and is only $6.99. Might be an interesting watch.
Sweeney Todd
Thanks for the info. I look forward to seeing it.
You called.
Whistle in the musical still scares the crap out of me. Even after months of listening still does that. Lol.
I'm not sure I want the DVD. On the Sweeney Todd Concert DVD Stephen Sondheim says the only version of Sweeney Todd he found acceptable was the Christopher Bond version. The play has been adapted countless times, and only this version sufficed. My guess is that the film bites...only a guess
And Racetrack, what is wonderful about that musical is that I have listened/watched it hundreds of times, yet every time I still get caught up in the suspense. This musical has never grown old to me
Super!
Me too. All the songs amaze me, but the one that always strikes me is the one where Sweeney is dreaming about Johanna and killing people at the same time. Just strikes me everytime.
