There are no cabs in the area.
None.
So, that's wasn't even an option for her, or anyone in Ogunquit.

I need to get reading glasses. I thought the headline read "SALLY STRUTHERS ARRESTED IN MAME".
Was her performance really that bad?

A little bird told me that Sally was in her car, that was provided by a local rental company, and it had advertising all over the car for 'Cars For Stars" or some other such nonsense on it. It seems that the automatic headlights did not come on, so they probably pulled her over for that, originally.
The police in Ogunquit are total douchebags. Small town people who like the power they have been given.
It's obvious to me that they were going after her and knew exactly who they were pulling over.

Posted: 9/15/12 at 6:21pmYou can get arrested for DUI, if you are under the legal limit. If the officer, feels you are impairred, then the arrest can be made. Depends on the laws in Maine.. BTW, she starred in a production of Hello Dolly, at our dinner theatre, not too long ago. So I would agree, that she may not have a lot of money. On the otherhand, you drive while drinking, you suffer the possible consequences.

Posted: 9/15/12 at 6:53pmNobody here knows the deal. Sorry. I tend to agree that they knew exactly who they were pulling over and this gets them their little headline. I've known Sally for over forty years and she's one of the sweetest, most charming, and certainly funniest people I know.

Posted: 9/15/12 at 7:14pmBK, A couple of friends went to see her in Hello Dolly. They stated after the show she was extremely sweet to them and down to earth. I will agree, they knew what they were doing.(Celebrity). But as I stated earlier, even if you are under the legal limit, you can still be arrested. All it would take is one drink and the officer's testimony.

My mother is the type who appears to have downed a case of wine after only a few sips and turns into someone who appears to be half her age, giggling like a hyena, with sleepy eyes that also look really HAPPY.
Around the net, there are people commenting on her mug shot saying she looks obviously "wasted." No, she looks "happy." Not defending her and it would be a real pity if she actually was significantly over the legal limit, but only because of the possible tragedy that could have ensued, to her or the lives of innocent motorists.
But I agree it is a mistake that, although a serious one, is also a very tricky one in that you can't put a label on someone arrested for D.U.I. until the facts are known. Too often people in her position are called flat-out losers and some even say they're no better or different than a willful murderer caught before the act, which is a bunch of knee-jerk baloney.
I don't generally have a bad view of law enforcement and believe the majority are really invested to serve and protect but I wouldn't doubt that some are influenced more by the motorist's celebrity status rather than law in deciding to arrest them. It's not surprising that a good number of celebrities have their charges dropped soon after.
