Okay, so shoot me. I'm supposed to be working on a monologue and I lost the script (though fortunately I have the monologue memorised. Thus I am unable to find any character information outside of the monologue. I'm performing sammy's military academy monologue from "Dark at the Top of the Stairs" and I need to know some things bout his character. I know already that he is a Jewish boy from Hollywood who is set up as a blind date for another character and he ends up committing suicide later that evening, however I know nothing beond that. What is said before this monologue that provokes it, and is there anything else I should know about this character before performing the monologue?

I SWEAR I'm going to get this play from the library tomorrow. But it's currently closed. Otherwise I'd be reading it now.
