Does anyone know why the talented Sara Gettelfinger is not in the Broadway run of Grey Gardens, although she is in the recent cast recording??? She was fabulous off-Broadway, as well as in DRS.
There have been a few topics like this...
Some of the reasons could possibly be that she didn't et that great of reviews as Act 1 Little Edie and many people thought she was miss cast another is that she probably thought DRS would run longer. She's on the cast recording because it's probably cheaper to do an Off broadway recording.
I hear the Very talented Sara will be joining Il Diva.
I think they made a mistake re-casting her role in GG.

While I think she's talented, I thought she was miscast as Little Edie. The character in Act I bore little resemblance to the character in Act II, largely due to her low key, mild-mannered interpretation of the role. There simply was no way to believe that that younger woman would turn out to be the eccentric, paranoid, mannered, high strung, manic Little Edie we see in Act II and as a result Act I and Act II seemed like two different and almost unrelated shows. Hopefully her replacement will do a better job of evoking a younger incarnation of that blissfully odd creature that Ebersole brings so miraculously to life in Act II.
Well Margo I always respect your opinion and again I agree
but I think that was more the writing than Sara's performance.
But it's moot now.
I hear they are showing more of Edie's developement to her Future self and i wish the new Actress the best with that.
I love this Piece and look forward to seeing it again.
What Margo said.
But I did enjoy hearing Sara sing something other than "Oklahoma?" And she's a wonderful dancer.
