Wow, this sounds pretty cool!
oh that IS good news! this an excellent opera season for musical theatre fans. I just got my ticket for next Monday to see Julie Taymor's new staging of Mozart's "Magic Flute", choreographed by the guy who choreographed Lippas' Wild Party. i'd better grab one for Cinderella too. Sarah's going to make Brandy wish she's never met Whitney Houston.

More of cast:
Sarah Uriarte-Berry as Cinderella, Eartha Kitt as the Fairy Godmother, Renee Taylor and Dick Van Patten as the Queen and King, Chris Sieber- Prince, John "Lypsinka" Epperson as the Wicked Stepmother. Lea Delaria and Ana Gasteyer two step-sisters.
Careful -- no casting has been officially announced by City Opera. Although Jim Caruso, the person who posted this list, is certainly someone who'd have inside information, negotiations have a way of falling through some times. In his post, Jim stated that this casting is simply what he had heard. Updated On: 10/10/04 at 02:14 PM

It's probably just a personal thing, but I saw Cinderella last year at the Kennedy Center (maybe two years ago), and it was terrible! Eartha Kitt was also the Godmother, and I couldn't stand her in that role. It was pretty dissapointing since the recording I have with Julie Andrews and the old school Leslie Ann Warren video we own, were classics when I was growing up.
Hopefully this will be a MUCH better production.
