Scary Spice...

So, is she ever actually *in* the show?! Tonight's the third time I've gone to try to catch her. I guess management is tired of refunds/complaints because they negelected to make any kind of announcement until about two seconds before the show started. Needless to say I was peeved...
At any rate, I must say that the show seems to be in much better condition than it was last September when I saw it. Jeremy Kushnier I have always adored and think he's a great Roger. Not a huge fan of Merle (sp?) as Joanne, though.

I was at the show Friday night, and she was clearly losing her voice during 'Light My Candle'....and it only got worse during 'Out Tonight' (I also saw where she missed the next several shows after that). It's a shame, because you can tell she has a great voice, just not one capable of singing 8 times a week.

BTW, you said they made an announcement...didn't they have the cast list posted for the night on the name board?? Or did it have her listed as going on?

definitely glad i never saw her in Rent... why do so many pop "stars" need to be in broadway shows now?!?! it makes me so sick...although i must say that Neil Patrick Harris was way way better in Assassins then I ever expected him to be.

I saw Melanie Brown in Rent and - as others have noted - she was struggling vocally. But I loved Merle Dandridge as Joanne - I thought she nailed it. Maggie Benjamin is the star in that cast, however.

I saw Dominique Roy (Mel B's understudy), and she was really great. She should be the regular Mimi if Mel is having so much trouble in the role vocally. Does anyone know how long Scary is scheduled to be in Rent? (I think she will be there at least until September when Drew Lachey becomes Mark)
