I agree with April Saul and feel it deserves a life! I loved Next to Normal and was completely wrapped up in the music and Ripleys performance. I didn't get emotional however, other than the love of a really good show.

The Scottsboro Boys had me feeling every emotion imaginable. Theatrical joy, horror, amusement, shock and tear inducing sorrow all in one show had me rapt at attention. It was close to a roller coaster ride for me.

It has a Kander & Ebb score so that helps going in.

I put it in a catergory with Sideshow. It will not be a big moneymaker but who cares.

Interesting thing I came across today. I went on the Jay Records website, just browsing, and came across the track listing for The Scottsboro Boys album, with an added bonus track- "Go Back Home" sung by John Kander. How wonderful! While we all love Fred Ebb's jazzy performances I'm sure, Kander always sings the ballads well, and his piano playing is lovely.
I'm assuming a demo was made for the show. I wonder if anyone has a copy... or an advance copy of the album...
Speaking of the great Kander, I did have the pleasure of running into him at the final 'Scottsboro' performance at the Vineyard and he was lovely for the ninety seconds I talked to him (and he signed my program), but my question is, does he ever respond to letters? I just wrote him one praising him and wishing The Scottsboro Boys the best of luck on Broadway (I'm a big fan) and I'd love to hear back from someone who I am assuming is a great guy, besides being a great composer.
Anyway, forgive my rambling and incoherentness, I'm exhausted, but, here's a link to the Jay Records website that I hope works.

Thank you for correcting the negative reviews comment. Good lord sometimes it seems like some posters here dont do research or bother to see things before they write. Show got great reviews both off-broadway and at the guthrie.

I'm so hoping that this show can succeed. I need the door opened for more interesting and unique, not to mention NEW musicals. Maybe producers will start taking chances on stuff that doesnt have a lilly-white cast singing as high as they can. Wishful thinking...i think so.
