I'm not sure if this was mentioned before but this week Seasons of Love went from # 43 to # 33 on Billboards Hot 100,look at all of the rock and rap around it. Pretty impressive. Although it only had 8 spins according to Mediabase, but that was up from 5 previously. I have heard it on holiday stations before , so maybe it will get increased airplay in the next few weeks. It's obvioulsy selling alot of downloads!

After it having been on the Must List, I've concluded the album will fair much better than the actual film. Between that and the DVD (and hopefully international numbers once it's released abroad) it'll break even.
Does anyone know if it's anywhere near breaking even yet?
It was #10 on the Hot Digital Songs chart this week:
12 10 CAST OF RENT SEASONS OF LOVE (FROM THE MOTI 23300 6 22056 165593
For digital downloads, the certification levels are 100K sold for gold and 200K for platinum, so it should be eligible for a platinum certification in a couple of weeks.
Also, 3 other songs from the soundtrack debuted on the Hot 100 Bubbling Under chart (basically, the top 25 songs that are "next in line" to make their way up to the Hot 100). Light My Candle is #14 Bubbling Under, Out Tonight #19, and Take Me Or Leave Me #25.
yeah this soundtrack deserves to be successful.
it's absolutely now my favorite version of this score.

Seasons of Love was on the radio yesterday. I think I was listening to 106.7, or some Christmas station, and it came on. I was suprised because a) it was a Christmas station and b) they usually don't play showtunes on the radio unless it's a station meant to play show tunes. Anyhow, I'm glad the soundtrack is doing good. Since the movie isn't going that well, it's great to have at least some part of Rent being recognized.
Well, of course, Marquise. The OBCR is criminally bad. It's the reason I've never seen the show. The movie soundtrack is so far superior as to be ridiculous.
